Membership & Membership Renewal

NASSM memberships run over the calendar year (January to December), and include online issues of the Journal of Sport Management (JSM) and the Sport Management Education Journal (SMEJ), the option to purchase print versions of these journals, and discounts on registering for the annual conference. The membership fees are reviewed each year, and memberships/renewals are processed online using the NASSM Membership Application/Renewal Form (note that we are not accepting any membership renewals or new memberships right now, as we transition to a new website). Payment can be made by credit card (Visa, Master Card, or American Express), or a cheque can be mailed in (within two weeks of completing the application form) along with the final confirmation page upon completing the online form. Note we are not equipped to accept Debit Cards for payment.

Membership and membership renewal will entail reading and agreeing to abide by the NASSM Code of Ethics. NASSM instituted the Code in 1992 (updated in 2004), which outlined the principles and professional ethical obligations of the NASSM membership. However, the Code is not a living breathing document. Given the importance of NASSM members adhering to the principles and values written in the Code, and being accountable to the sport industry as a whole in carrying out the Society’s purpose it is critical that the NASSM imposed an accountability measure. The NASSM Executive Council appreciates your cooperation in adhering to the Code. 

Unless you are a Life Member, your membership needs to be renewed each year. Renewals for the coming year can begin after November 1. Between October 1 and November 1, new members will have the option of having their membership applied to the current year or to the next year. When the online conference registration system is active, memberships may be made or renewed as part of that process.
